This article focuses on the "Class Document" sub-tab within the "Action Tags Lab" tab. Below is a screenshot of the "Class Document" sub-tab:
The "Class Document" sub-tab allows you to create Action Tags for distributing or collecting a Class Document.
We'll cover the options that appear on this tab:
- Select Document Action - Here, you can select to either "Share Class Document" or "Collect Active Class Document". We'll detail each option:
- Share Class Document - Select this option if you wish to create an Action Tag for sharing a Class Document. When creating an Action Tag to share a Class Document, you can choose to reference a document saved in a classroom's Class Document area or share a document not linked to any classroom by directly entering its URL. In this section, select either the "Use Existing Class Doc" tab or the "Use New Class Doc" tab, based on your preferred option. We'll cover the fields that appear, depending on which tab you have selected:
- Use Existing Class Doc - Select this tab if you wish to create an Action Tag that corresponds to an existing Class Document. We'll review the fields that correspond to this option below:
- Select Class - Use this dropdown to choose the specific classroom that has the Class Document for which you want to create the Action Tag.
- Select Class Document - Use this dropdown to select the specific Class Document for which you'd like to create the Action Tag.
- Use New Class Doc - Select this tab if you wish to create an Action Tag for a Class Document that is not associated with a particular classroom. This would be a standalone Action Tag that you can use across different classrooms. We'll review the fields that correspond to this option below:
- Enter Document Link - Paste in the URL to your cloud-hosted document here.
- Enter Document Name - Provide an optional document name.
- Use Existing Class Doc - Select this tab if you wish to create an Action Tag that corresponds to an existing Class Document. We'll review the fields that correspond to this option below:
- Collect Active Class Document - Select his option to generate an Action Tag to collect/close the currently-active Class Document.
- Share Class Document - Select this option if you wish to create an Action Tag for sharing a Class Document. When creating an Action Tag to share a Class Document, you can choose to reference a document saved in a classroom's Class Document area or share a document not linked to any classroom by directly entering its URL. In this section, select either the "Use Existing Class Doc" tab or the "Use New Class Doc" tab, based on your preferred option. We'll cover the fields that appear, depending on which tab you have selected:
- Show Tag Name - Check this box to include an optional label that will appear at the bottom of the Action Tag image.
- Name Your Tag - If you decide to add an optional label to the Action Tag image, this text box is where you can enter the label text.
- Use Old QR Code - Toggle this box to alternate between the old, black-and-white style QR code and the newer, blue-colored code.
- Copy - Click this button to copy the Action Tag image to your clipboard, which you can then paste into your presentation.
- Download - Click this button to download the Action Tag image as a file.
Note: While it is technically possible to use an Action Tag to distribute a Class Document tied to a different classroom, this is not advisable. Class Document Action Tags may contain data linked to the original classroom where the Class Document was configured, and if that classroom is updated or deleted, the Action Tag could stop working. If you need to generate an Action Tag for a Class Document that can be use within different classrooms, please use the "Use New Class Doc" option.
