Video sharing mode improves the viewing experience for screen shares with video content in both low and high bandwidth modes, and is on by default.
All users have video sharing mode on as a default classroom setting. Video sharing sends more frames per second while screen sharing a video. The result is improved quality of screen shares with videos, especially when combined with high bandwidth mode.
If instead, you want to prioritize resolution, turn Video Sharing Mode off to reduce the frame rate and boost the resolution.
Video sharing mode interacts with other bandwidth settings in the following ways:
- With Video Sharing Mode enabled or disabled: resolution is capped at 1280 x 720 pixels (p) and 3 frames per second (FPS)
- With Video Sharing Mode enabled (default): resolution is capped at 1920 x 1080 and 15 FPS
- Without Video Sharing Mode enabled: native source resolution and 7 FPS
- With Video Sharing Mode enabled: resolution is capped at 1920 x 1080 and 25 FPS
- Learners without high bandwidth mode will see 15 FPS
- Without Video Sharing Mode: native source resolution and 15 FPS
We recommend the default setting of normal bandwidth plus video sharing mode as the best option for screen-sharing video content. If you want to make any changes, you can find the settings by clicking the More Actions (three dots) menu at the bottom of the screen.
- Note:
Low Bandwidth Mode can be selected manually but is also automatically enabled in case of poor connection quality. - For High Bandwidth Mode, others in the class must also enable the setting to see this quality. If not, they see Normal Bandwidth Mode quality.
