The LMS Attendance menu allows instructors and administrators to configure and manually sync attendance data to your learning management system.
- Learning Management System attendance pass back must first be enabled at an organization level before data can be synced to your LMS.
Sessions
This is a list of all class sessions that have occurred and includes the following information:
- Start and End time in your time zone, including the date.
- Number of staff.
- Number of students.
- Date created.
If you don't see any sessions listed or the list is not correct, set a class schedule. This will help our system know when the class is scheduled to happen. Once you've set the schedule, you should see new sessions listed. For more information on how attendance is calculated, see this article.
To view the details of an individual session, click the row associated with the start and end time you'd like to learn more about. Once you do this, it will open in the Gradebook Sync tab.
Gradebook Sync
This tab contains details of an individual session and includes settings that control what and how we pass attendance data back to your learning management system as well as a button to manually sync data to your LMS.
The following settings are typically set by your Engageli administrator.
LMS attendance maximum score
This sets the maximum attendance score possible for a participant. This can be set to a number between 1000000 and 1.
When a participant has attended the class for the entire session or enough to be counted as present we will send the maximum score or a percentage depending on how it’s set in the next field (LMS attendance score policy).
LMS attendance score policy by picking an option from the drop down menu.
This sets the policy for how attendance is scored and can be set to either Pass/Fail or a Percentage. This feature works in conjunction with the maximum score to calculate attendance.
Pass/Fail will send either the set attendance maximum score 100000-1 (pass) or 0 (fail). Alternatively we can send a null instead of 0 for a fail, for more information see LMS attendance no-show policy.
Percentage will either send the score as a percentage based on the set attendance maximum score (0-100% or 0.00-1.00). Alternatively we can send a null instead of a failing score, for more information see LMS attendance no-show policy.
LMS attendance no-show policy
This sets the behavior for users who have ‘not attended’ a class. This can be set to Send Nothing (not create an entry) or Send Score (based on above settings) has not met the attendance requirements.
Session Ratio
This is a threshold (percentage) of class time that instructors are required to be logged into the class. The full duration of the class must be set via the Scheduler and this schedule is used to calculate occupancy. Once the instructor has occupied the class within the scheduled timeframe and meets the threshold, the session will be considered valid. By default, this value is set to 50%.
For example, if the Scheduler is set to 7 pm to 9 pm EST i.e. 120 minutes every Monday. If session ratio is set to 50%, that indicates the instructor should have been in class for 50% of the 120 minutes
Attendance Ratio
This is the threshold (percentage) of a session that a participant must attend to be considered present in the class. By default, this value is set to 60%.
