When an Engageli classroom has been integrated with Canvas, the user roles assigned within Canvas are synced over to the Engageli class roster. The roles within Engageli will follow the logic listed below.
If you're using a custom role in Canvas, the role creator must pick a base role to start and can then adjust permissions manually. Engageli will inherit the base role that was used to initially create the custom role and map it to our platform. To find out which base role your custom role was created with you can check the Permissions section within Canvas (Admin > Permissions > Course Roles > Select the role you'd like more information about and the base role will appear underneath the pop out window).
Canvas Role | Engageli Role |

TA | TA |
Student | Learner |
Designer | Learner |
Observer | Learner |
Role mappings can be adjusted manually by your administrator. For instance if you want the Designer role to map to TA in Engageli, it could be manually edited within your Canvas instance. For more information see this article (section 4).
