AI-Generated Class Summary

Introduction

Engageli offers partners the ability to have AI generate a summary for each class session. This allows users of the platform to quickly determine the contents of a recorded session without having to scan through the recording.

Enabling the Feature

To enable AI-generated summaries for your classroom, you will need to ensure that the "Allow third-party content generation" setting is enabled from the "Live Configuration" tab of the class settings. Once this setting is enabled, you will experience the the following 2 changes:

  • Emails that are automatically sent to Instructors at the end of a recorded session letting them know the recording is available will include a summary section at the bottom. This section will contain the AI-generated summary.
  • When viewing the recorded session from the Playback Room, the AI-generated summary will appear at the top of the screen.

As implied above, AI-generated summaries only apply to recorded class sessions. If you host a session without recording it, no AI-generated summary will be created for it.

Viewing the AI-Generated Summary from the Playback Room

To view the AI-generated summary from the Playback Room, follow the below steps:

  1. Log into the Playback room
  2. Select a class recording from the right-hand panel.
  3. Click the "Summary" button at the top of the page, as shown below:

  4. This will open an "AI Summary" window, where you can see the AI-generated summary for your session, organized by topics that were detected during the session. Below is a screenshot of an example summary.

To edit the AI-generated summary, hover your mouse over the various sections within the "AI Summary" window and click the "edit" icon that appears.

You should also notice other tools, which we'll cover below:

  • A trashcan icon you can click to delete an individual section.
  • An "Add to Notes" icon you can click to quickly copy the content to your Notes.
  • An "Add Section" link you can click to add a new section.

The way the summary appears for you is how it will appear for Learners who join the Playback Room. However, Learners will not be able to edit the summary; they will only see the "Add to Notes" icon.
