You can use captioning to provide text-based captions for spoken audio. This can help participants who are deaf or hard of hearing, have language barriers, or those who prefer to read the content. Engageli users have two options for captions: Engageli captions and Google Chrome live captions.
When to use Engageli captions?
Engageli captions can be used only in Room Mode. This is the typical default when you enter your Engageli classroom. In Room Mode, the audio feeds for all users can be heard by all, regardless of table seating. The system can capture these audio feeds to generate captions. Room Mode is often used at the beginning of a session and during classroom discussions.

When to use Google Chrome captions?
If captions are needed when the classroom is in Table Mode, Google Chrome live captions can be used. When you enable Table Mode, learners will only hear their table mates and the instructor at the Podium, and you will only hear learners who raise their hands. As the system does not capture table discussions in Table Mode, we recommend using Google Chrome’s live captions for this mode.
