The Waiting Room feature in Engageli offers instructors enhanced control over their virtual classrooms by allowing them to manage when and how learners enter the session. This guide will walk you through enabling the Waiting Room, admitting learners, and revoking admittance.
Enabling the Waiting Room Feature
To use the Waiting Room, it must first be enabled:
- Open Settings (gear icon) at the bottom left of the screen.
- Select Class Configuration.
- Under General, toggle on Enable waiting room.
- Click Save.
Once enabled, learners who attempt to join your session will be placed in the Waiting Room until you admit them.
Note: You can also enable the waiting room feature in the Admin Portal.
Admitting Learners from the Waiting Room
Once learners are in the Waiting Room, you can control when they enter the classroom:
- You will see a notification at the top of the screen that users are waiting to join.
- Click View to see the list of learners waiting to enter the room.
- Click Admit for an individual learner or Admit all.
From the Class Gallery
- Click Participants in the top left corner of the Class Gallery.
- Select Not Admitted to see learners in the waiting room.
- Click Admit.
Revoking Admittance
If a learner needs to be removed from the session or if someone was admitted by mistake, you can revoke their access:
- Click Participants in the top left corner of the Class Gallery.
- Under Active, find the learner you want to remove from the classroom.
- Click Disallow.
You can choose to re-admit the learner at any time.
