This article will go over the "Class Configuration" sub-tab of the "Site Management" tab. This tab can be accessed via "Admin Portal" > "Site Management" > "Class Configuration". Below is a screenshot of how this tab looks:
The "Class Configuration" tab enables Super Admins to define default settings for classroom configurations. As a result, the settings on this page are also found in each classroom's "Common Configuration", "Live Configuration", and "Playback Configuration" settings pages. It's important to understand that these changes will only apply to classrooms created after the adjustments are made. Classrooms created prior to these modifications will remain unaffected.
Many settings on this page will include a padlock icon, which allows you to restrict Instructors from modifying the settings for their individual classrooms. For instance, the screenshot below illustrates the "Allow table sharing" setting when it is both enabled and locked:
When a classroom is created, its "Allow table sharing" setting inherits this default configuration, appearing as enabled and grayed out for Instructors. This indicates that the setting is active and cannot be altered. Below is an example of how this setting would appear from an Instructor's perspective:
If the Instructor would like to toggle the setting, they would need to reach out to a Super Admin. Here are some important details about the padlock icon that appears next to these settings:
- They are only visible and accessible to Super Admins. Instructors do not see them and might not be aware that they exist.
- They also appear throughout individual classroom settings areas. Consequently, this means that it's possible to lock or unlock specific settings for individual classrooms without affecting other classrooms.
- When the padlock for a setting is in the locked position, the setting will appear grayed out for Instructors; they will not be able to toggle the setting
As mentioned, the settings found on this page are the same ones found throughout each individual classroom's "Common Configuration", "Live Configuration", and "Playback Configuration" settings pages. Please visit the help center articles for those pages if you need more information about each setting.
Reminder: Click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
