This article will go over the "Backgrounds" sub-tab of the "Site Management" tab. This tab can be accessed via "Admin Portal" > "Site Management" > "Backgrounds". Below is a screenshot of how this tab looks:
The "Backgrounds" sub-tab can be used by Super Admins to configure and oversee webcam virtual background options. Below are a few examples of what can be managed from this page:
- Allow users to upload their own images for their virtual background
- Upload images that will be available to all users to select as their virtual background
- Disable all virtual background effects
We'll now go over each of the options that appears on this page:
- Allow camera background effects - Use this checkbox to permit or prohibit users from using virtual background effects on their webcams. When this option is turned off, users will be unable to modify their webcam video backgrounds, and any previously set background preferences will be disregarded..
- Enable user image upload - Check this box to allow users the option to upload their own images to use as their virtual background.
- Enable blurred background - Check this box to allow users to blur their webcam background.
- Enable raw color background - Check this box to allow users to select a solid color from a color palette for their virtual background.
- Enable built-in background images - Check this box to make virtual backgrounds created by Engageli available to users.
- Custom background images - This section allows you to upload your own images to be made available to all of your organization's users. This is commonly used to upload virtual backgrounds with your organization's branding on it. To upload an image, click the "Upload" button. Images can then be removed by clicking the "X" icon associated with each image.
Important: Outside of disabling camera background effects entirely, disabling a specific virtual background option does not alter or reset a user's current background selection. For instance, if the "Enable user image upload" feature was active and a user applied an uploaded image as their background, turning off this feature later will not force them to choose a new background. They can continue using their previously selected image. However, once the user opts for a different virtual background, the disabled option will no longer be accessible.
