This article focuses on the "Learning Path" tab within the Class Portal. It enables you to control what your Learners see in the Playback Room's "Learning Path" pane. Think of it as a way to curate how course materials are displayed to your audience. From this tab, you can add, remove, or rearrange items to shape the learning experience.
Below is a screenshot of a sample classroom's "Learning Path" tab, as seen from the Class Portal.
We'll now go over all the items that appear on the page:
- Materials Filter - This dropdown allows you to filter the table of course material by type. You can filter by any combination of the following: Modules, Recordings, PDF, PowerPoint, Video Clip, and YouTube.
- Materials Search - To filter the table of course material by Name, click this magnifying glass icon to reveal a text box, then type in the value.
- Settings - The tab's Settings icon--not to be confused with the top toolbar's Settings icon found in the same area--allows you to configure settings specific to the Learning Path tab. We've highlighted the specific location of the Learning Path's Settings icon below:
The "Settings" icon contains the below options:- Always Add New Content to the Top - When this option is selected, any new material added to the Learning Path will automatically appear at the top of the table.
- + Add Material - To add course material, click the "+ Add Material" button. This will open a menu, where you can select the type of content you want to add. Below is a screenshot of this menu, showing all the options:
Note: You can only add material that already exists on our platform to the Learning Path. If you need to upload something new, please do so via the Content tab or other applicable area.
We'll describe each of the options below:- Content - To add an item that's been uploaded to this or another classroom's Content area, select this option. A navigation window will appear, where you can select the classroom and corresponding item to be added. While the classroom's Content area itself may contain a variety of items, only the following content item types can be added to the Learning Path: Video Clip, YouTube, PDF, and PowerPoint.
- Recording - To add a video from this classroom's "Recordings" area, select this option.
- Module - To add an item from this classroom's "Modules" area, select this option.
The majority of the page is populated by a table that displays all the Learning Path materials. We'll describe each column of this table below:
- Arrange Item - Hover over any item in the table to reveal a cluster of six dots in the leftmost column of that row. Click and drag these dots to reorder the item within the table. The sequence of items here determines the order in which participants will see them in the Learning Path pane inside the Playback Room.
- Name - The name/title of the material. This is what learners will see from the Playback Room's Learning Path panel, so be sure to name things appropriately. Note: You cannot change the item's name from the Learning Path tab. If you need to change the name of the item, please navigate to where the item exists and and change it from there.
- Created - The date the item was uploaded or created in the Engageli platform. Note: This is not the date the item was added to Learning Path--it's the date the item was uploaded or created in our system.
- Due Date - If the item has a due date, it will appear here. Currently, this value only applies to Modules.
- Private - If the item has been marked as private, an icon of an eyeball with a slash through it will appear here. This setting is applicable to Recordings. Recordings marked private will not be visible to Learners.
- Delete Material - Hover over an item to reveal the trashcan icon. Selecting it removes that item from the Learning Path, but the original content remains untouched. Only the Learning Path entry is removed; the source material stays available elsewhere in the platform.
