This article explores the "Modules" tab within the Class Portal, where you can manage classroom-related modules.
Like live class recordings, modules can be added to the classroom's "Learning Path" area, allowing learners to visit the content from the Playback Room. Each module includes a video enhanced with interactive activities--such as polls and shared YouTube clips--just like class recordings. The key distinction is that while live recordings stem from real-time lectures, modules let you upload a video and add those activities afterward, without hosting a live session. Modules also support additional features not found within live classrooms, tailored to building rich asynchronous learning experiences.
Below is a screenshot of an example classroom's "Modules" tab:
We'll proceed with reviewing all the items that appear on this page:
- Status Filter - This dropdown menu can be used to filter by any combination of module statuses: Published, Draft, Processing, Error.
- Sorting Options - This dropdown allows you to sort the modules by the Created Date or by Due Date in ascending or descending order.
- + Add Module - The "+ Add Module" button can be clicked to add a new module. Clicking this will take you to the module builder.
The majority of this page will consist of a grid of tiles, with each tile representing a module and featuring a thumbnail image. Below is a list of the details that appear within each tile:
- Module Name - The name assigned to the module.
- Number of Activities - The number of activities contained within the module.
-
Status - This will show the published status of the module. This will be one of Published, Draft, or Processing. We've provided definitions for each of these statuses below:
- Published - This module is complete can be added to the Learning Path for viewing from the Playback Room.
- Draft - This module is still being worked on.
- Processing - Components of this module are still being processed by Engageli. You'll often see this status if our system is still processing the base video file.
- Error - If the module encounters an error, you will see this status.
- Due Date - The optional Due Date assigned to the module.
- Creation Date - The date the module was created.
To edit the module, simply click on it. You can also hover your cursor over each tile to reveal a row of clickable icons. We'll review each of these icons below:

-
Preview as Learner - Select this icon to experience this module as a user would from the Playback Room. Below is an example screenshot of how this preview appears:
You'll notice this preview contains many, but not all, of the same elements you'd see if watching this from the Playback Room. To exit the preview, click the "Back" button seen at the top-right of the page.
- Share - Select this to open a pop-up window that will contain an Authenticated link and a Guest link that will take the user to this module when they join the Playback Room. Specifically, when you paste either link into your browser, you'll be taken to the classroom lobby page. Upon joining the Playback Room, this module will automatically load into the player.
-
Export SCORM - This allows you to export the module as a SCORM file..
Please note: Due to SCORM limitations, modules containing certain activities cannot be exported. If your module includes any of these restricted activities, the export icon will be disabled. Hovering over the icon will display a tooltip listing the activities that must be removed to enable SCORM export. -
Publish/Unpublish - To toggle the module between Published and Draft status, select this.
Caution: Reverting a published module back to draft will permanently wipe its existing analytics data. - Delete - Select this option to permanently delete the module.
