This article will cover the "Engageli Document" option that appears when adding an activity to a module.
Engageli Documents are ideal for essay-style or other open-ended text-based learner responses. When selecting this activity, you have the option of starting with either a new, blank Engageli Document or an existing one from the Content area of this classroom or another classroom. Below is an example of the window that appears once you've selected an option:
We'll describe the handful of fields that appear:
- Engageli Document Name - This is the name of the Engageli Document and will be used as the activity name. You may edit this as needed.
- General Instructions - Use this field to enter directions that learners will see when they begin the activity. For instance, if learners are expected to write a 100-word essay on a specific topic, you can provide that guidance here.
- Document Body - This section contains the main content of the document. You may leave it blank, include further instructions, or insert a template for learners to use as a starting point. A text formatting toolbar is available at the top to help you style your content as needed.
- Estimate - This indicates the anticipated duration to complete the activity. By default, the system will automatically assign a value here, though you can adjust it as needed. This value mainly serves as a reference point for estimating the overall time required to complete the module or activity, with minimal functional impact.
- Add to Module - Click this button to add the activity to the module.
