This article will cover the "Whiteboard" option that appears when adding an activity to a module.
This option can be used to add an Engageli Whiteboard activity in your module. The Whiteboard supports both text input and freeform drawing, making it perfect for open-ended tasks that encourage creativity. When setting up the activity, you can either launch a brand-new blank Whiteboard or reuse one from the Content section of this classroom—or even from another classroom. Once you've made your selection, you'll see a window similar the one shown below:
We'll describe the handful of fields that appear:
- Whiteboard Name - This is the name of the whiteboard and will be used as the activity name. You may edit this as needed.
- General Instructions - Use this field to enter directions that learners will see when they begin the activity. For instance, if learners are expected to draw a picture of the planet Saturn and its key features, provide those instructions here.
- Whiteboard Canvas - This section contains the whiteboard canvas. You may leave it blank or populate it with something the learners can use as a starting point. For example, if learners are expected to draw something complex, perhaps include a portion of that object that they can use as a starting point. On the left-hand side is a toolbar, where you can select between various drawing tools.
- Estimate - This indicates the anticipated duration to complete the activity. By default, the system will automatically assign a value here, though you can adjust it as needed. This value mainly serves as a reference point for estimating the overall time required to complete the module or activity, with minimal functional impact.
- Add to Module - Click this button to add the activity to the module.
