Overview
The "Instructor's Video" view is available through the Views Tabs section. When selected, it displays the Instructor's webcam feed in your main panel, giving you a larger view of them. If there are two Instructors in the classroom, both video feeds will appear side by side in the panel. Below is an example of the Instructor’s Video view:
Instructors often direct participants to this tab when they want the class to focus on them or something within their video feed. This tab is only available to Learners and TAs.
Document Camera Usage
A typical use case for the "Instructor's Video" view is when an Instructor connects a document camera to their computer and selects it as their video source. In this configuration, the Instructor's webcam feed displays the document camera output, making it easy to present materials to the class. While screensharing might seem like the obvious choice, the screenshare feature cannot capture a camera's video stream since it is not a browser tab, application window, or monitor. Although it is technically possible to route the document camera feed to a monitor and then screenshare that monitor, this method is cumbersome. Choosing the document camera as the webcam feed is a far simpler and more efficient solution.
Below, we've provided an example screenshot of a classroom where the Instructor's video is that of a document camera, showing a textbook's contents:
