This page will discuss the "Activate" button, found towards the center of the Live Classroom's Bottom Panel. This button is only available to class Instructors. Below is a screenshot highlighting this button's location:
The icon on this button indicates its purpose: activating Action Tags. If you’re unfamiliar with Action Tags, refer to the Class Portal > Action Tags article for more details.
Using the button is straightforward. When a File Share or Class Share (i.e. Class Screenshare) is active and an Engageli Action Tag is visible, clicking the button will activate that tag.
There are a few requirements for proper functionality:
- Context matters: Action Tags can only be activated within a File Share or Class Share. For example, if an Action Tag is uploaded to the Class Whiteboard as an image, it cannot be activated. Similarly, Action Tags within the context of a Table Share (i.e. Table Screenshare) will not activate--it needs to appear within a classwide screenshare.

Tab focus rules:
- If either a File Share or Class Share is active, you can click the Activate button without needing to have that tab in focus. The system will automatically detect and attempt to activate Action Tags in the relevant tab.
- If both a File Share and Class Share are active, you must be viewing the tab containing the Action Tag you want to activate before clicking the Activate button.
