This article will discuss the "React" button, found near the center of the Live Classroom's Bottom Panel. This feature is available to all participants. Below is a sample screenshot of the React button with its menu expanded:
The React feature allows class participants to express themselves using Reactions (i.e. emojis) or Sounds (i.e. sound effects).
When clicking the React button from the Bottom Panel, a menu containing 2 tabs will appear. We'll describe the contents of each tab below:
- Reactions - This is the default tab displayed when you select the React button. It contains a set of emoji icons that, when clicked, trigger an animation of the emoji floating upward from the bottom of the page. The animation is visible to the entire classroom. See below for an example of this:
Available emojis include: Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, Heart, Party Face, and Laughing.
Instructors and TAs also have access to an "Allow Use of Emojis" toggle at the top of the menu, allowing them to turn emoji reactions on or off. This control is useful in situations where participants may overuse the feature and cause disruption. - Sounds - This tab contains sound effects that can be played. Like emoji reactions, the sound effect will be heard by all participants. The following sound effects are offered, each with its own representative icon: Applause, Crickets, Sad Trombone, and Dramatic.
An "Allow Use of Sounds" toggle at the top of the menu is available to Instructors and TAs, which can be used if sound reactions becomes disruptive to the session.
When a participant triggers a reaction from the React menu, other participants will see the reaction's corresponding icon appear on the user's portrait within the class gallery, allowing the class to see who sent the emoji. This is applicable to both emoji-based and sound-based reactions. This indicator is highlighted in the below screenshot:
