On the instructor application, there are a few settings you can use if you have low internet bandwidth or are using an older computer. These settings can help with performance.
On the application login page, click ‘Advanced Settings’.
1. ‘Enable low-performance mode’ enhances the quality of published and subscribed videos when using an old computer. This mode will save bandwidth by automatically turning off learner video feeds in the gallery, however, video feeds in tables will still be visible and you will be able to see when learners raise their hands.
2. ‘Enable slow network mode’ enhances the quality of published and subscribed videos. The slow network will impact what is being sent out to your class and shown on the learners’ screen (i.e. your video feed could seem delayed or your screen share will not be completely clear).
3. ‘Enable invisible mode for screen share’ should be used when you are planning to share your whole screen and do not want learners to see the Engageli application windows. This is particularly useful if you want to share multiple applications in quick succession without stopping and restarting the screen share.
Please note the following:
-this setting will require more CPU / bandwidth from your computer to work well
-this setting will impede your ability to take a screenshot of your screen
When enabled, you will see the following on your screen:
In contrast, your class will see the following:
4. ‘Enable high bandwidth mode’ affects the quality of desktop screen share, making it better, both in terms of bitrate and resolution. This makes your screen share more clear and there will be less of a delay in slide changes.
