This article explains the "Raise Hand" button, located near the center of the Bottom Panel in the Live Classroom. The button is available to Learners and TAs, allowing them to take a spot at the classroom Podium. Instructors do not see this button since their default position is already the Podium. For more details on how the Podium works, refer to the Live Classroom > Podium article. The screenshot below highlights the location of the "Raise Hand" button:
Upon clicking this button, you will appear on the class Podium. To remove yourself from the Podium, simply click the button again. Below is a brief animation showing a user raising their hand to get on the Podium, then lowering it to get off the Podium:
Below are some important notes regarding usage of the "Raise Hand" button:
-
The Podium supports up to six Learners or TAs at a time. If it is already full, clicking the button will add you to a queue for entry. In this case, a tooltip will appear beside your "Raise Hand" button, showing your position in the queue (as illustrated below):
As participants ahead of you lower their hands, your position will move forward. -
Once you are on the Podium, a timer will appear next to your "Raise Hand" button, indicating how long you've been there. This helps track speaking time when limits are in place. A reference image has been provided below showing this timer:
- Raising your hand to join the Podium does not affect your seat at the table. This means that when the room is in Table Audio Mode, any Learners or TAs at the Podium can still hear their tablemates. Therefore, if the room is in Table Audio Mode and somebody from your table is presenting at the Podium, it's important to remain quiet so you don't distract them.
