This article introduces the "Leave" button, located on the right side of the Bottom Panel in the Live Classroom. This button allows you to exit the session. While its basic function is straightforward, there are important distinctions for Instructors to note.
When you click the "Leave" button, you'll see the following options:
- Leave the Class - Returns you to the class lobby. Alternatively, you can simply close the browser tab or window.
- End Class for All - Available only to Instructors. Selecting this option officially ends the session and triggers the following:
- All participants are removed from the classroom and redirected to the lobby. They may rejoin immediately if needed--there is no required cooldown period.
- Post-session processing begins right away, including recording (if applicable) and analytics data.
- The session end is logged and timestamped.
Instructors are encouraged to use "End Class for All" at the conclusion of every session, even though it's optional. If an Instructor leaves without formally ending the class, Engageli will try to determine when the session has finished. This automatic detection typically relies on classroom activity levels, though the exact behavior may vary depending on your organization's settings.
Depending on auto‑detection can slow down post‑session processing and may allow participants to remain in the room far longer than intended, which can distort analytics. Additionally, in classrooms where back‑to‑back lectures occur, not using this feature can cause recording issues: auto‑detection may treat consecutive sessions as one continuous class and generate a single, combined recording instead of separate videos.
