This article introduces the "React" button, located near the center of the Playback Room's Bottom Panel. This menu allows you to send emoji and sound reactions. In most cases, this feature is only meaningful when other participants are present in your Playback Room instance. The screenshot below highlights the button's location and the menu that appears when you select it:
When selecting the React button, a menu containing 2 tabs appears, offering a variety of choices for the reaction. We'll describe the contents of each tab below:
- Reactions - This is the default tab displayed when you select the React button. It contains a set of emoji icons that, when clicked, trigger an animation of the emoji floating upward from the bottom of the page. The animation is visible to all users in the Playback Room instance. See below for an example of this:
Available emojis include: Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, Heart, Party Face, and Laughing.
The Playback Room host will also have access to an "Allow Use of Emojis" toggle at the top of the menu, allowing them to turn emoji reactions on or off. This control is useful in situations where participants may overuse the feature and cause disruption. - Sounds - This tab contains sound effects that can be played. Like emoji reactions, the sound effect will be heard by all participants. The following sound effects are offered, each with its own representative icon: Applause, Crickets, Sad Trombone, and Dramatic.
An "Allow Use of Sounds" toggle at the top of the menu is available to the host, which can be used if sound reactions becomes disruptive to the session.
When a participant sends a reaction from the React menu, an icon representing that reaction appears on their portrait in the gallery, making it easy for others to see who triggered it. This applies to both emoji reactions and sound reactions. The screenshot below highlights where this indicator appears:
