Enhancements / Changes
Admin Portal
- The Admin Portal > Classes Management page has been improved. When search results span multiple pages, a text box is available, where you can key in the page number to which you’d like to jump. Previously, you could only navigate one page at a time using the left/right arrows.
- The Admin Portal > User Management page has improved filtering options. Participant filtering can now be done at a more granular level (e.g. System Role, Registered vs Guest, Active vs Inactive).
An auto-archive and auto-delete mechanism is available to help manage storage. When enabled, classrooms that have not been used for a specified period will be automatically archived. Additionally, classrooms will inherit a common configuration setting to mark the classroom as exempt from the general policy.
The site setting is configured by your Engageli Partner Success Manager. Non-Engageli Super Admins cannot enable or modify this setting. For assistance or more details, please contact your Partner Success Manager. The classroom setting can be adjusted by instructors and Non-Engageli Super Admins.
Similarly, when auto-delete is enabled, classrooms that remain archived for a specified period will be automatically deleted. Once set up, to view your organization’s configured durations, open any classroom’s Common Configuration tab and click the help icon next to Disable class auto archive/delete policy. The auto-archive and auto-delete durations should align with your institution’s data retention policy.
- A new classroom setting has been added: “Email instructors when new recordings are created”. Traditionally, when a class session is recorded, Engageli will email class Instructors when the recording is available to access. Turning off this setting will stop the email notifications of when a new recording is created.
- Many classroom settings have been renamed to improve clarity. The settings renaming has been applied to settings in the portal as well as those in Live Classroom under Settings > Class Configuration.
- A new subdomain has been added to Engageli’s infrastructure. Videos being played from the Engageli platform may be served from domains of the following pattern: media-PARTNER.engageli.com where PARTNER is your organization’s name. Engageli’s network documentation recommends allowing connections to engageli.com and all its subdomains. Partners who already follow this guideline will not need to make any adjustments.
- The roster seating feature has been retired. Seating presets are still available and should continue to be used for managing seating arrangements.
- The "new" QR codes have been removed from the system. You can still use any existing images of these codes in slide decks, but they can no longer be generated through the Action Tags Lab. These were the blue‑colored QR codes, which frequently experienced activation issues.
- The Action Tags Lab no longer supports creating action tags for saved Quick Polls. This option has been removed in anticipation of Quick Poll's eventual retirement, which does not yet have a set timeline. Any action tags created previously will continue to function for the foreseeable future.
API
- The Classes endpoint has been enhanced to allow institutions to create, delete and update classrooms, including add/drop of class rosters.
Class Portal
- Class Analytics (e.g. Attendance, Speaking Time, etc) can now be exported. This can be done by navigating to Class Portal > Analytics and viewing any of the usual analytics sub-tabs. All analytics will be included in the export, regardless of the specific sub-tab you are viewing. The export will be in .xlsx format.
- Module Analytics can now be exported. This can be done via Class Portal > Analytics > Modules. The export will be in .xlsx format.
- The Recordings tab now displays the timestamp for each class recording. Previously, only the date was shown, which made it harder to distinguish between multiple recordings created on the same day.
- The Class Portal now includes an "LMS Attendance" tab. This is the same tab available when viewing a classroom's details in the Admin Portal, bringing the Class Portal more in line with the Admin Portal's functionality.
Classroom
- The Quiz activity, previously only available within Studio, is now available for use in the Live Classroom.
- The workflow for restoring temporarily unavailable cameras has been improved. Previously, if your camera briefly stopped responding during class, you had to re‑enable it through the Settings panel. Now, once the camera has recovered, you can simply click the Camera button in the bottom‑left corner of the classroom to turn it back on.
- When watching a video within a module, a quality selector is now available, allowing you to change the video quality from Auto to something specific.
- The side gallery will automatically appear if the Instructor initiates an activity that changes the user's focus away from the Class Gallery tab. This will help to smooth the transition between activities.
- When initiating a screenshare via the Present menu, Instructors no longer need to select the quality: “Default” quality mode will automatically be used. The Instructor is free to change the mode via the usual method once the screenshare has started. This will help to streamline the screensharing workflow.
- The audio mode switch, found at the bottom-left of the Live Classroom, has been changed from a dropdown to a toggle. The labeling of these 2 modes have also been changed from “Room Mode” and “Table Mode” to “Room Audio” and “Table Audio”, respectively.
- A new Poll feature has been introduced to the Live Classroom. This feature is similar to the current action tag polls and Quick Polls offered, but allows you to include multiple questions within a single activity.
- The Public Playback Room feature has been removed. Collaboration within Playback Rooms is still possible by sharing invite links, but setting one’s Playback Room to Public, which allows anyone to join, is no longer available.
- The “Picture in Picture” option has been removed from the Playback Room. This option allowed users to open the video as a separate floating window, but resulted in analytics not tracking properly.
- A new visual indicator in the top‑right corner of the live classroom now shows which tab--if any--is being recorded. Previously, it wasn't always clear which Views Tab was active in the recording, and this indicator resolves that ambiguity.
- Some of the options in the 3‑dots menu at the bottom‑left of the classroom have been updated to improve readability.
- The “Class Management Page” link in the class lobby has been renamed to “Manage Class”. Only the label has changed–the functionality remains the same.
- The "Open selected recording in a new tab" button has been removed from the Playback Room. This feature previously allowed users to open a recording in a separate tab, but its use interfered with accurate analytics tracking, so it has been discontinued.
- A character limit has been added to several classroom features, including Q&A and Chat. This change prevents users from sending excessively long messages, which could cause problems for others attempting to view them.
- Deleted chat messages now have a distinct visual style, making them easier to tell apart from regular messages.
- Rallyo has been added to the Live Classroom. This is a leaderboard activity, where Learners compete for points by quickly and accurately answering questions.
- When Interaction Controls is enabled for a classroom, Learners will be prevented from interacting with Engageli Documents. Below is an example of an Engageli Document being shared with the classroom:
- The Table Options dropdown, available from the Tables tab within the Live Classroom, has been simplified.
Studio
- The Audio Podcast activity now includes several enhancements:
- Words containing numbers (such as B2B or ISO8601) and acronyms are now handled more accurately during audio generation.
- Transcripts can be edited, and the audio can be regenerated to reflect any revisions.
- Learning Pal responses were often verbose, we've modified its behavior to return shorter responses.
- Quiz Templates are now available when adding a Quiz to a module. In the past, quizzes had to be created from scratch each time because they couldn’t be prepared in advance.
- PDF files can now serve as the starting point for creating new modules. When a PDF is used, Engageli uses AI to generate a video based on the document's content. The resulting video plays like a slideshow with a presenter, and the slides are created from the AI's paraphrased summary of the PDF. When relevant, the AI may also add images from the PDF to the slides. To clarify, the PDF itself is not used as the module's base--because modules require a video--the AI‑generated video derived from the PDF becomes the module's base file.
- The workflow used to add a Quiz activity to your module has undergone minor improvements.
- We have improved the AI engine's algorithm used when processing and segmenting the parts of a base file.
Fixes
Admin Portal
Classroom analytics in the Admin Portal now reliably display the Course Source ID for LMS-linked courses, ensuring more complete and accurate reporting.
Admins can now download full classroom chat logs even when they include messages sent from iOS app users.
Time-bound classroom archiving now aligns precisely with the number of weeks selected, ensuring classrooms are archived exactly when expected.
- A new workflow now ensures browsers always download the latest files after each system update rather than relying on cached versions. Using cached files led to the following issues:
- Occasional blank white screens when accessing the Admin Portal after an update.
- Users being shown a “your browser is not supported” message despite using a supported browser.
- Class sessions sometimes failing to record or the recording was significantly delayed.
Class Portal
Video uploads added through the Class Portal > Recordings tab now calculate duration correctly, ensuring accurate attendance tracking and classroom analytics. To take advantage of this improvement, previously affected recordings will need to be re-uploaded.
Classroom
Archived classrooms now reliably prevent participant entry, helping maintain clear session boundaries and data integrity.
Instructors can now successfully join Playback Rooms for LMS-linked classrooms even when accessing them outside of the LMS, providing greater flexibility in how sessions are reviewed.
- Applied further adjustments to prevent “recorder not available” or similar messages from appearing when it wasn’t applicable.
- When converting PPTX to PDF, supported fonts are now preserved correctly during file conversion, ensuring exported PDFs more closely match the original presentation design.
- Fixed an edge case where the Overlay Gallery would not show any webcam videos.
- Resolved an issue where enabling Interaction Controls in a classroom unintentionally restricted learners from interacting with table whiteboards.
- The help text associated with the “Mirror my video preview” toggle has been corrected.
- We addressed an issue where, if the classroom already has 2 Instructors present and a 3rd tries to join, instead of demoting the Instructor that is to be replaced to TA role, the Instructor instead gets sent to the class lobby. This issue was not consistent and only triggered occasionally.
The “ding” sound now consistently plays when a class timer reaches zero, helping keep sessions on track.
Disabling the “Allow Table Screen Share” setting now fully prevents table screen sharing via keyboard shortcuts.
- Resolved an issue where switching roles between Instructor and TA during a live class session would sometimes cause the staff member’s audio to be omitted from the class recording.
- Resolved an issue where a black image was being added as the first frame to downloaded class recordings (MP4 download).
Studio
- Quizzes generated by AI within Studio will properly reference the source material type within the question. Previously, auto-generated questions would sometimes mention “text” even though the material was part of a video clip.
- Multiple choice quizzes generated by AI within Studio will no longer inform the user of the number of correct answers that exist in the selection list.
- Addressed an issue where an error would occur when trying to import a module from one classroom to another if the module included a Whiteboard activity.
