How to set up the Engageli LTI External Tool in D2L Brightspace LMS

The following steps illustrate the Engageli LTI 1.3 integration process with D2L:

Prerequisites:

  • To register Engageli as a new LTI external tool, you must have D2L admin access.
  • Your Engageli Solution Engineer will provide you with the necessary parameters to setup the tool in D2L.

Instructions:

  1. Register the tool.
  2. Create an external tool deployment for Engageli LTI advantage.
  3. Create the deployment link.

Step 1: Register the tool

  1. Log into your D2L site as an administrator.
  2. Open the gear menu at the top right and click Manage Extensibility to register the LTI advantage tool. TIP: You could also access LTIAdvantage registration by going to this URL https://[yoursubdomain].brightspace.com/d2l/le/ltiadvantage/registrations/home

  3. Click the LTI Advantage tab at the top, and then click the Register Tool button. Step1-2.png

  4. Under How would you like to register your tool?, select Standard, and then click the Register button.

  5. Enable the tool. 

  6. Fill out the form. Your Engageli Solutions Engineer will provide the parameters. See this example:          Step1-5.png

  7. Click the Register button and the Brightspace Registration Details will appear. Copy and save this information. Step1-6.png

Step 2: Create an external tool deployment for Engageli LTI advantage

  1. Access the settings by clicking the gear icon, and click on External Learning Tools. Step2-1.png
  2. Under the LTI Advantage tab, click New Deployment. Step2-2.png
  3. In Tool: choose the Engageli Learning tool you previously registered.
  4. Toggle the Enable switch to ON.
  5. Fill out the form. Your Engageli Solutions Engineer will provide the recommended settings.   6. Click the Add Org Units button, and in the pop up window select the desired units you want the tool to be available, then click the Add button. Example: Step2-7.png

Step 3: Create the deployment link

  1. Access the settings by clicking the gear icon, and then click External Learning Tools.                                                                      Step3-1.png
  2. Under the LTI Advantage tab, click the Engageli Learning tool you deployed. Step3-2.png
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, locate Brightspace Deployment Details and click View Links.                                                                                                            Step3-3.png

  5. Toggle the Enable switch to ON.
