iOS App for Learners

You can use the Engageli native iOS application to join your classroom on the go.

Note: The Engageli iOS app cannot be used to join the class as a TA or an instructor.

Download the app

Instructions

1. Go to the Apple App Store on your phone.

2. Enter “Engageli” in the search bar.

3. Tap GET.

4. Tap Install or double-click the side button.

5. Enter the password for your Apple ID.

6. Once the app has been downloaded, tap Open.

Authenticated Log In - I’m enrolled in a class and I received a classroom link from my instructor

Follow the steps below if you are enrolled in a class taught on Engageli and received a classroom link from your instructor.

  1. Download and open the app.

  2. Swipe through the quick tutorial or tap Skip tutorial.

  3. In the URL field, paste the URL link for your classroom.

  4. Tap Get Started. You will be taken to a browser to sign in.

  5. Select the account you want to sign in with, such as “Sign in with Google”, or enter an email address.

  6. Select your account.

  7. Tap Open when asked, “Open in Engageli?”

  8. For your first login, tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.

  9. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed. 

  10. To change your display name, tap the edit icon in the upper right corner.

  11. Tap Join Class.

LMS Log In - I’m logging in through my institution’s LMS

Follow the steps below if you usually log in to Engageli through a learning management system (i.e., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).

  1. Download and open the app.
  2. Log into your LMS system using a browser on your phone.
  3. Find the link to your Engageli classroom.
  4. Tap the link.
  5. Tap OK when prompted, “Do you want to use the Engageli app?”
  6. For your first login, tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.
  7. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed.
  8. To change your display name, tap the edit icon in the upper right corner.
  9. Tap Join Class.

Guest Log In - I’m NOT enrolled in a class and I received a classroom link

Follow the steps below if you are not enrolled in a class and received a guest link from the instructor.

  1. Download and open the app.

  2. In the field for URL, enter the URL link for your classroom.

  3. Tap Continue as guest.

  4. Enter your username.

  5. Tap Apply.

  6. Review the Terms of Service and tap Agree & Continue.

  7. Tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.

  8. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed. 

  9. To change your display name, click the edit icon in the upper right corner.

  10. Tap Join Class.

Engageli App Features 

Using the Engageli iOS app, you'll be able to: 

  • See and hear your instructor

  • See and hear your classmates

  • Raise your hand to talk on the podium

  • Send and receive chat messages

  • Send anonymous chat messages to the Room

  • Join different tables

  • See video clips

  • See class and table screen shares

  • Respond to poll questions

  • Join a panel

  • View and edit shared Google files (in the Google app)

  • View shared Microsoft 365 files (in a separate browser)

  • Join sub-rooms

  • Collaborate on Miro whiteboards (in the Miro app or a browser)

  • Use emoji and sound reactions 

  • Post and respond to Q&A entries

  • View Engageli whiteboards
  • Take notes using the Notes feature

Using Engageli on a browser on your computer you’ll be able to:

  • Use all the features available on the app (except Audio only mode)

  • Blur or add a virtual background to your camera

  • Share your screen with the class or a table

  • Use Engageli Playback Rooms

  • Upload files to the chat

  • Collaborate using Engageli Whiteboards

  • Edit shared Microsoft 365 docs

  • Navigate a shared PDF while on the podium

 
 
 

Join Classroom in Audio Only Mode

You can join the classroom in Audio only mode if you are having connectivity issues or simply want to participate in sessions or meetings by audio only. In Audio only mode, all videos are disabled by default.

In Audio only mode, you can still see the podium, tables, chat, Q&A, and other features. You can tap to display your instructor’s video or a screen share. This allows you to view the class material, participate in polls, etc. while keeping your video off.
