Android App for Learners

You can use the Engageli native Android application to join your classroom on the go.

Note: The Engageli Android app cannot be used to join the class as a TA or an instructor.

Mobile System Requirements 

The Engageli app supports Android 8.1+ on all Android devices.

Download the app

Instructions

To download the Engageli Android app from the Google Play Store:

  1. On your device, open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Search for “Engageli”.
  3. Tap Install.

LMS Log In - I’m logging in through my institution’s LMS

Follow the steps below if you usually log in to Engageli through a learning management system (i.e., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).

  1. Download the app.
  2. Log into your LMS system using a browser on your device.
  3. Find and tap the link to your Engageli classroom.
  4. The Engageli app will open. 
  5. Tap Get Started. You will be taken to a browser to sign in.
  6. Select the account you want to sign in with, such as “Sign in with Google”, or enter an email address.
  7. For your first login, tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.
  8. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed. 
  9. To change your background, tap the icon in the upper right corner of your video.
  10. To change your display name, tap the edit icon in the upper right corner. 

I’m enrolled in a class and I received a classroom link from my instructor

Follow the steps below if you are enrolled in a class taught on Engageli and received a classroom link from your instructor.

  1. Download and open the app.
  2. In the URL field, paste the URL link for your classroom.
  3. Tap Get Started. You will be taken to a browser to sign in.
  4. Select the account you want to sign in with, such as “Sign in with Google”, or enter an email address.
  5. If prompted enter the verification code. 
  6. Tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.
  7. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed. 
  8. To change your background, tap the icon in the upper right corner of your video.
  9. To change your display name, tap the edit icon in the upper right corner.
  10. Tap Join Class.

Guest Log In - I’m NOT enrolled in a class and I received a classroom link

Follow the steps below if you are not enrolled in a class and received a guest link from the instructor.

  1. Download and open the app.
  2. In the field for URL, enter the guest link URL for your classroom.
  3. Tap Continue as guest.
  4. Enter your username and tap Done.
  5. Review the Terms of Service and click Agree & Continue.
  6. Tap OK to allow Engageli to access your camera and microphone.
  7. You can adjust your camera and microphone if needed. 
  8. To change your display name, tap the edit icon in the upper right corner.

Engageli Android App Features 

Using the Engageli app, you'll be able to: 

  • See and hear your instructor
  • See and hear your classmates
  • Raise your hand to talk on the podium
  • Send and receive chat messages
  • Send anonymous chat messages to the Room
  • Join different tables
  • See video clips
  • See class and table screen shares
  • Respond to poll questions
  • Join a panel
  • View and edit shared Google files (in the Google app)
  • View shared Microsoft 365 files (in a separate browser)
  • Join sub-rooms
  • Collaborate on Miro whiteboards (in the Miro app or a browser)
  • View Engageli whiteboards
  • Use emoji and sound reactions 
  • Post and respond to Q&A entries
  • Take Notes
  • Blur or add a virtual background to your camera
  • Join the classroom in Audio only mode
  • Access the Engageli Playback Room
  •  

Using Engageli on a browser on your computer you will be able to use all the features available on the app and:

  • Share your screen with the class or a table
  • Upload files to the chat
  • Add to Engageli whiteboards
  • Edit shared Microsoft 365 files
  • Navigate a shared PDF while on the podium
  •  
 
 
 

Using Audio Only Mode

You can join the classroom in Audio only mode if you are having connectivity issues or want to participate in sessions or meetings by audio only. In Audio only mode, all videos are disabled by default.

In Audio only mode, you can still see the podium, tables, chat, Q&A, and other features.

You can tap to display your instructor’s video, screen share, or PDF. This allows you to view the class material, participate in polls, etc. while keeping your video off.

Light and Dark Themes

You can use your device settings to switch between Light and Dark Themes, depending on your preference.

  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Turn Dark theme on or off.

Pro tip! Dark theme can make it easier to read your screen and can save battery on some screens.
