These notes provide information about the release of Engageli 3.1.48, including new and enhanced features, improvements, and resolved issues.
Instructor Updates
- The label “Scan” has been changed to “Activate” for Engageli tags.
- When sharing a YouTube video, instructors see a notification that dial-in participants are unable to hear the video.
- Improvements in the recovery of audio after network disconnects.
- Screen share quality has been improved with a default higher resolution/lower frame rate.
Learner Updates
- When Interaction Controls are enabled, learners who enter the classroom without an instructor present will see an overlay that states “Waiting for Instructor” rather than waiting on the login screen. Learners will no longer be able to use their keyboards to unmute while waiting for the instructor.
- When the instructor shares a YouTube video, dial-in learners will hear a notification, “YouTube Clip is playing. Unfortunately, dial-in participants are unable to hear it.”
- Learners using tablets will see an improved layout.
Playback Room Updates
- Modules display individual tasks for better navigation.
- Improved UI for task completion.
- New celebration notification when a module is completed with prompts to start the next Module or complete unfinished Modules.
Admin Portal Updates
Super Admins can access an instructor guest link on the class Details page.
- The setting “Open Class in Moderated Mode” has been removed from the Class Configuration list since the feature has been deprecated.
- Super Admins can lock and unlock configuration settings for individual classrooms.
- Improved email validation when creating new users.
General Updates

New Text Sharing Mode
- Text sharing mode prioritizes the quality of screen shares with static text content such as documents, slides, or spreadsheets.
- Users can enable this mode when sharing a screen to reduce fuzzy or unclear text. If text sharing is not enabled before sharing, the user must stop sharing, enable text sharing mode, and then re-share.
- Significant improvements to API performance when querying engagement data.
- .zip & .log files can be uploaded in the chat. [File uploads in the chat can be disabled in the Admin Portal.]
- The participant list can be navigated with keyboard arrow keys.

Classroom
- Resolved issue with the latest version of Google Chrome that caused shared PDFs to display with a black background.
- Resolved issue with inconsistent response when moving a participant to a new table by selecting the profile icon on the Tables tab to select a new table.
- Resolved issue with recording audio for shared screens that include audio.
- Resolved issue with no audio for participants on the podium if there are many concurrent speakers in the classroom.
- Resolved issue with the System Test that caused false failures on the end user side.
- Resolved issue with the unread Chat notification not displaying until the participant checks unread Q&A posts.

Playback Room
- Resolved issue with chat history not cleared after clicking "Clear AI assistant conversation history". Note: You must have the AI Assistant enabled in the Admin Portal in order to access it in the Playback room.
- Resolved issue with the Help menu not being available in the room.
- Resolved issue that stopped the Playback room host from receiving full progress credit for watching a video in a Module task.
- Resolved issues with transferring host controls not working correctly.
- Resolved issue with thumbnails for recordings not displaying in Modules.
- Resolved issue with newly and previously created Modules not displaying on the Class Portal page in Canvas after saving the new Module.
- Resolved issue with Playback rooms accessed through Canvas links not displaying the list of Modules.

Attendance
- Resolved attendance issue when a participant leaves the event, but the event is not logged (e.g., user closes tab without exiting classroom) and a leave event was not available.
- Resolved issue with skipped attendance calculations for Private recordings.
- Resolved issue with missing face-time files.

- Resolved issue that provided an incorrect roster count after filtering for a specific type of participant (e.g., Guest Learner).
- Resolved issue where different time zones do not accurately display scheduled class durations.
