Deep Linking is an extension to LTI that allows data to be passed back to the Learning Management System (In this case, Canvas). With the inclusion of this extension, institutions can leverage Deep Linking to provide a seamless launch experience between Canvas and Engageli.
Follow these steps to deep link multiple Canvas courses to one Engageli class if you have already followed the steps in this article to create your Engageli classroom.
- Navigate to the Canvas course you want to link to the existing Engageli classroom.
- Go to the element page where you want to add the Classroom link.
- Click on the + sign and click select ‘External Tool’ from the drop down menu.
- Now select the Engageli LTI Deep linking tool (This may be named differently depending on how it was added to your Canvas instance).
- In the content selector popup window that appears, under Step 1, make sure Engageli Browser-Based Classroom Access is checked.
- In the content selector popup window that appears, under Step 2, select Link to an Engageli class
- Using the 'Choose an existing class' dropdown, select the existing Engageli classroom based on the class name.
- Then click ‘Submit’.
- You will now see the 'Add Item to module' popup again.
- Scroll down and make sure the option to ‘Load in a new tab’ is checked.
- Then click ‘Add Item’ in the bottom right.
