Introduction
This article explains the "Quiz" option available when adding an activity to a module. A Quiz consists of a set of questions, making it a great choice for the end of a module--where learners can review and be assessed on the full scope of the module's content.
When adding a Quiz activity, you'll be presented with 3 options: "Generate with AI", "Create New Manually", and "Add from Content".
In the following sections, we'll go over each option.
Generate with AI
Upon selecting this option, you'll be presented with a window where you'll configure the settings to be applied to the AI-generated questions. Below is a sample screenshot of this window:
Below, we'll cover each option that is seen:
- Sources - Use this dropdown to select all source materials the AI will reference when generating the questions. Acceptable source activities currently include base video segments, PDF files, and PPTX files.
- Number of Questions - Select the number of questions you'd like to have created.
- Guide Your Quiz - You can provide an optional set of instructions to the AI engine to help define the specific topics or focus areas for the set of AI-generated questions.
- Generate - Click here to add the activity to the module. The newly-added Quiz will show a "Processing" indicator for several minutes, as the AI engine generates the content. Once the indicator goes away, the activity is ready.
Create New Manually
Selecting this option to manually create your Quiz question set. Upon selecting this, the below Quiz Creator screen will appear:
This screen functions much like the "Manual Creator" tab used when starting a Quiz activity during a live class session, with the exception of a handful of fields. This article will explain the features that are specific to this area of the platform. For details on the other fields and workflows shared with the live Quiz creator, refer to the Live Classroom > Bottom Panel > Present > Quiz article.
Below is a list of all the fields on this screen that are either unique to this page or that exist only on this page:
-
Create with AI - This button behaves slightly differently when viewed within this area of the system. Below are the fields that appear when selecting this dropdown menu
- Sources - Choose one or more activities from your module to serve as input for the questions. Acceptable activities currently include base video segments, PDF files, and PPTX files.
- Number of Questions - Set the number of questions to be auto-generated.
-
Advanced - This section provides additional options for customizing the AI-generated question set:
- Guide Your Quiz - An optional instruction field where you can give the AI engine specific guidance. For instance, if multiple topics are covered in your source material, but you want the questions to focus on one particular subject, you can enter that here to steer the questions in the desired direction.
- Generate - Once you've finished configuring your options, click this button to generate the questions. After a few seconds, the AI-generated questions will be appended to the existing list of questions.
- Estimate - This indicates the anticipated duration to complete the Quiz activity. By default, the system will automatically assign a value here, though you can adjust it as needed. This value mainly serves as a reference point for estimating the overall time required to complete the module or activity, with minimal functional impact
- Reveal Correct Answers - Check this box to reveal the correct answers and any corresponding answer notes to the learner after they submit their response to each Quick Poll. If this option is not enabled, users will only be given a visual notification regarding whether they passed or failed the Quiz.
Add from Content
To use an existing Quiz, choose "Add from Content". A navigation window will appear, allowing you to select a saved Quiz from this classroom or from another classroom you have access to. After you pick the Quiz you want, its full contents will load onto the screen, where you can make any edits before adding the activity to the module.
