Overview
The "Gallery" button is positioned near the center of the Live Classroom's Bottom Panel and opens the class gallery in the Right Panel. Within this context, the term "side gallery" is often used to describe the same feature, so you may encounter both terms interchangeably. The screenshot below highlights the location of the "Gallery" button and shows how its contents are displayed in the Right Panel:
As you can see in the above example, the side gallery can display up to 8 portraits at a time. If the number of class participants exceeds this, you can click the left and right arrows at the top of the panel to flip through pages.
3-Dots Menu
Instructors and TAs can hover over a user's portrait in the side gallery to reveal a three‑dot button. Clicking this button opens a dropdown menu with actions that can be applied to that participant. The options available will vary depending on both your role and the participant’s role.
This menu is identical to the one found in the Class Gallery view. For a detailed explanation of the available options, see the Class Gallery article under Live Classroom > Views Tabs > Class Gallery.
Notes
Below are some notes about the side gallery:
- The "Gallery" button in the Bottom Panel is disabled when either the Class Gallery view tab is active or the Overlay Gallery is open. In short: participants can only view one instance of Class Gallery at a time. Because the Class Gallery may place heavy demands on the device, multiple instances are restricted to prevent performance issues.
- The "Gallery" button in the Bottom Panel will be disabled if you are in Low Capacity Mode. You can confirm this by hovering your mouse over the button and seeing if a "Disabled in low-capacity mode" help text appears. For more details about this mode, please review the Low Capacity Mode article.
