This article introduces the "Notes" button, located near the center of the Bottom Panel in the Live Classroom. The Notes feature serves as your personal notepad, allowing you to jot down and revisit information at any time.
When you click the button, your classroom notes will open in the Right Panel. The screenshot below highlights the button's location and shows how your notes appear within the panel:
Below, we'll describe the content seen within the Notes panel:
- Class Name - At the top of the panel will be the name of the Engageli classroom you are currently in. In the event that you are not seeing notes that you believe were taken, double-check that you're in the correct classroom.
-
Note Entries - The majority of the panel is occupied by a list of your notes--with the oldest ones at the top. Notes taken on different dates are separated by a datestamp, allowing you to quickly scan through and look for ones that were taken during a specific session. We'll describe the fields that appear for each note entry:
- Time - Each note will have a time associated with it, indicating when it was added.
- Content - This is the actual contents of the note. This could be text or an image, depending on the type of note that was taken. If it is an image, hovering your mouse over the thumbnail will reveal a larger version of it.
- Click to Annotate / Stop Annotating - For image notes, this link appears next to the entry. Selecting it opens the image in a dedicated "Note Annotation" view tab, where you can add markups. Once annotation is active, the link changes to "Stop Annotating"; click it anytime to close the tab and discard your edits.
- Delete - To delete the note entry, click its corresponding trashcan icon.
- Enter Notes - To add a text note, type your message here and then hit Enter on your keyboard or click the "Add Note" button.
- Add Note - Click this button to add the text you have keyed into the "Enter Notes" field to your notes.
- Take Screenshot - Click this button to take a screenshot of the Views Tab you are currently looking at and have it added to your notes. While you will be able to take a screenshot of most tabs, screenshots may be disabled in certain tabs to protect privacy or comply with content rights. For example, you will not be able to use this button when looking at the "Class Gallery" or "YouTube Player" view tabs.
- Get Recent Captions - Click this to button to have several paragraphs of the latest live caption text be added as a note entry. This feature requires that the live captioning service be enabled for your classroom.
- Get Summary of the Last Several Minutes - This button will feed the last few minutes of live captions through our AI engine and generate a summary of what was discussed. The results will be saved to your notes as an entry. This feature requires that the live captioning service be enabled for your classroom.
- Download Notes - Click this to download all your class notes as a Microsoft Word document (i.e. .docx).
Below are some important details to be aware of regarding this feature:
- Text-based note entries cannot be modified or edited. Once a text note entry is added, it can only be deleted.
- Image-based note entries can be annotated as many times as you wish. However, existing annotations on the image cannot be removed. Subsequent annotations will only add to the latest version of the annotated image.
- Notes are private to you. They cannot be viewed by anybody else.
- Notes entries are linked to the classroom in which they were created. The panel displays only notes from the current classroom. If that classroom is deleted, all notes taken by its participants will be permanently removed as well.
- A single notepad stores entries from both the Live Classroom and Playback Room, so the panel shows the same content in either environment.
