Deep Linking is an extension to LTI that allows data to be passed back to the Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas). With the inclusion of this extension, institutions can leverage Deep Linking to provide a seamless launch experience between Canvas and Engageli.
How to Deep Link in Canvas
Follow these steps to deep link a Canvas Course to an Engageli Classroom
- Navigate to the Canvas course you want to link to an Engageli classroom.
- Select add new module.
- Add a module to the course.
- Click on the + sign and click select ‘External Tool’ from the drop down menu.
- Now select the Engageli LTI Deep linking tool (This may be named differently depending on how it was added to your Canvas instance).
- In the content selector popup window that appears, under Step 1, select Engageli Browser-Based Classroom Access.
-
For step 2, select either Create links that match LMS course names (One-to-one Mapping to an LMS class) to create the class automatically using the LMS course name or Create a new Engageli class and link to this course if you wish to enter a specific name for the class.
- Enter a name for the class if you selected the option to manually name the class.
- Then click ‘Submit’.
- You will now see the 'Add Item to module' popup again.
- Scroll down and make sure the option to ‘Load in a new tab’ is checked.
- Then click ‘Add Item’ in the bottom right.
- You can now publish the course/module.
