If your microphone icon within Engageli appears green--indicating it's enabled--but the audio bar doesn't show any activity, your microphone may be "hard muted". A hard mute is when your microphone is disabled at the hardware level; this type of mute cannot be resolved from within Engageli. The result is that others in the classroom won't be able to hear you. Below is a screenshot of a user's "Settings > Audio & Video" screen from within a live classroom that demonstrates this: the microphone icon is green, but the audio bar doesn't appear to register any sound as you speak:
To resolve this, try checking your keyboard for any microphone mute button. Below are sample images of what this might look like.
- Example 1 - Button containing a picture of a microphone with an X next to it. Notice the light is on, meaning the mute is active.
- Example 2 - Button containing a picture of a microphone with a slash through it. Notice the light is on, meaning the mute is active.
