The "Test Your System" tool can be used to check your device and network for compatibility with the Engageli platform. This tool can be found at the classroom lobby, by clicking the "Media Device Settings" button (looks like a gear icon), then clicking the "Test Your System" link in the side panel that appears. Below is a relevant screenshot:
The test will check for each of the following:
- Audio Playback - This will check that you have working speakers.
- Microphone - This will check that you have a working microphone and have granted permission to use it.
- Camera - This will check that you have a working webcam and have granted permission to use it.
- Screen Sharing - This will check that you are able to share your screen.
- Connectivity - This will check that your internet connection is working properly.
- If Others Can See and Hear You - This will check that for any potential firewall issues.
- PDF Preview - This will check that you are able to load PDF files within the browser.
For every item that is tested, you'll be prompted to indicate whether it was successful.
The tool is fairly straight-forward to use, though there are some important details to be aware of, which we've outlined below:
- Upon clicking "Test Your System", a pop-up will appear, where you can click the "Start Test" button to begin the test, as shown below:
On the same page, you will see a "Compatibility Mode" switch--it's turned off by default, and we recommend keeping it off when running the test. However, if you experience issues with video not appearing during the test, try enabling this switch and rerunning the test. It may help bypass firewall restrictions that prevent your video stream from reaching our servers. If enabling Compatibility Mode resolves the issue, be sure to turn it on each time you join a live classroom on Engageli. - The system test doesn't resolve issues, and in most cases, it doesn't confirm whether each item check is successful. Its purpose is to highlight potential problems that could interfere with your classroom experience. Any issues it helps you identify will need to be addressed by you.
- When all the tests are complete, you will see a few buttons at the bottom of the screen:
- Save Log - This button will download a copy of the test results to your computer.
- Send Results - Click this button to email a copy of your test results. You'll be asked to enter both your email address and the recipient's. A copy will also be sent to the Engageli Support team, but we typically won’t take action unless you already have a related support ticket open.
