Introduction

This article will cover best practices for running a classroom with a high number of participants.

To optimize performance:
- Common Configuration > "Mute learners upon login"
- Common Configuration > "Turn off camera of users upon login"
To limit distractions:
- Live Configuration > "Start class in table audio"
- Live Configuration > Disable "Allow table sharing"

Keep table size to ‘x’ learners so you can have meaningful participation during table activities

Add troubleshooting links to the Q&A section for common video/microphone/permission issues

Rename a table to Staff Table. This should be ideally after the last occupied table.

Disable raised hands OR disable auto-unmute for raised hands depending on the strategy

Have a TA/second instructor at the podium in the class to assist with muting learners, moving users across tables. The second instructor can hide their video from the rest of the class, if needed.

Start with an icebreaker poll
Use file share for sharing presentations. This is for better quality and the deck to display even when instructors are joining tables
Use Sprints for a game based quiz to spark engagement
Use panels to highlight speakers who don’t need materials to be shared when speaking
Set the gallery to auto-rotate so that instructors can see the entire large class [no back benchers!]
Briefly turn on sound reactions for applause
Use whiteboards for brainstorming and polls for collecting feedback
